![]() Recently, Montana uncovered the music video for “Bag Season” featuring Lil Tjay. The whole project concludes with the soulful and reflective “Losing Weight.” In the end, the album delivers a message to fans to appreciate life and everything that comes along with it. French links back up with the late Pop Smoke and Lil Durk for a bold banger punctuated by a catchy lyrical crossfire. Serving up a sequel to his 2016 double-platinum smash “Lockjaw,” he re-teams with Kodak Black for the red hot “Mopstick.” Then, there’s “Stuck In The Jungle” with Pop Smoke & Lil Durk. Then, there’s “Push Start,” which shines with a sizzling guest spot from Coi Leray. The record kicks into high gear with the head-nodding “How You King.” Elsewhere, “Touch The Sky” with John Legend & Rick Ross reaches the heavens with a fluttering refrain and bossed-up rhymes from Rozay. ![]() Montana’s most personal album to date, the album opens in the literal “ICU,” and takes listeners on a journey through redemption, detailing his story through recovery over the past several years. They Got Amnesia, which is executive produced by Hitmaka and Rick Steele, has already generated hundreds of millions of streams and received widespread critical acclaim. In addition, just last week “Handstand” was the most-added record at Urban radio in the US. The two hottest female MCs in the game tag team the beat with raunchy and raucous bars before French pulls up with a hypnotic verse of his own. He distills his philosophy most appropriately on “Appreciate Everything” when he raps, “I don’t count the haters, make the haters count.“Handstand” has posted up close to seven million streams since the record’s arrival in November and ignites an instantly twerkable refrain over slick production. It’s a project that declares French is going to continue doing him, with or without help, even in the instance that he might be needled by a little internet trolling. Topically, They Got Amnesia is the French Montana fans have long loved (“Business,” “Bag Season,” “Striptease”), but also with a tiny chip on his shoulder (see “I Don’t Really Care” for an eyebrow-raising audit of the MC's tabloid-worthy dating history). It is produced largely by the ever dependable hitmaking producer Hitmaka. The project’s guest list reads like a who’s who of hip-hop playlisting, including Rick Ross, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, Pop Smoke, Doja Cat, Saweetie, Fivio Foreign, Coi Leray, Ty Dolla $ign, and Latto, to name a few. Setting the record straight online was easy enough, but with They Got Amnesia, French is making sure we know what he’s capable of in real time. The project’s title could be related to an October 2021 Twitter spat where a user challenged followers to “name FIVE French Montana songs without features.” French himself responded, rattling off 14 of his favorite solo records. ![]() When he decided to call his fourth proper album They Got Amnesia, however, French Montana’s mood was anything but forgiving. Over the course of an exceptionally prolific career, his voice has appeared alongside friends so often that one could be forgiven for forgetting that the Bronx-hailing MC is perfectly capable of holding it down by himself. His catalog is steeped in blockbuster collaborations with heavyweights like Drake, Swae Lee, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and The Weeknd. It’s no secret that French Montana works well with others.
